Welcome Back (Float trip of 2006)

This is it folks! My return to the blog world after not blogging for a little over a month. It's not that nothing has happened in the past month...its just been too much to blog about...

Here is a funny story I wish to share...

I went tubing yesterday. Now if you paid any attention to the weather in central illinois yesterday, you will remember there being heavy thunderstorms rolling through. This is indeed a fact and I witnessed these storms while on a little rubber tube. It all started with 3 guys, phil, carver, and myself...we fill up 4 tubes (1 was for a back-up incase one of the others pooped out on us)...got to the bridge a little past mason city and jumped in. The water was rather very cool for the first 5 seconds, but then followed by "man...this is great" the clouds began to roll into the area. what was to be a sunny 85 degree day, quickly turned into a very cloudy 85 degree day. after about being in the water for about 20 min. we began to hear thunder...we think to ourselves that we could just tough it out if it does rain...so we do just that...then it starts to lightening....we continue on...then it starts to rain a bit...not too much, just enough to get us a little wet...wait, we were tubing, who cares if we got wet...we push on...then it quits raining and it still felt great...then we heard it coming....we looked downstream and saw the rain coming towards us...it was the most amazing thing i've ever seen...it hit us so hard, we couldn't see about 25 yards away from us it was raining so hard...the wind picked up a lot and we kept pushing on...we had our destination in sight right before the heavy rain hit, so we kept on floating on down salt creek. it was a glorious site when we were about 50 yards away from the bridge and the sun came out and it looked like we were tubing into a norman rockwell painting...oh, you'd think the story was over now, but its not...cause remember all that rain we got, yeah, the field that we parked down in w/ a little 4WD Toyota pickup was so muddy...yeah, we got stuck...for about 10 min. we were stuck but could make a little bit of head-way, then phil started to push, then we still didn't move, then carver pushed w/ phil while i drove and we were still stuck, then this farmer comes down to us and asks us if we need help...then we realized the hubs weren't locked in for it to be in 4WD...the farmer thought we were mudding and was pissed cause we kinda dug up a bit of the field we were at...then we got out w/o any probablem once the 4WD was locked in...

the end

That story was almost an entire run-on sentence. I'm impressed!

And I miss thunderstorms terribly.
